Questions:
How Long Have You
Been Decorating Cakes? “I have been
decorating cakes for 26 years,” Mary answered. “Boy, you must be really tired!” commented the little
boy.
- How do you
keep the crumbs out of your icing when you frost your
cake?
The
trick to having a beautifully iced cake is to have the proper
consistency of icing and to have enough icing on the cake when you
frost. First the icing must be pliable and soft. If it is too stiff it
will naturally pull up the soft cake when you ice. Secondly, you must
have enough icing on the cake, so when you smooth out you are not
scraping the cake just to level the icing. You can always take off the
extra, but if you have to keep adding icing, crumbs will
surface.
- How can I
freeze my cake without messing it up?
Store the cake in the original
box. Place the closed box in a clean garbage bag, unscented. Close the
bag off and place into a deep freezer. Cakes can be frozen up to thirty
days before quality starts to fail. Cakes won’t spoil, but the quality
will go down with prolonged freezing.
